Transglobe Elevator
Ottawa, Ontario Transglobe Property Management owned building Elevator sensors have not been working for at least 5 days, and I have reported it numerous times. It is now Sunday afternoon and the on-call property manager just called to say that she will have someone “look into it”. I’m not going to hold my breath that this will be fixed by tonight. Two out of the three elevators in this building have the same malfunction.

Transglobe is a nightmare to deal with. They recently divested themselves of the building I live in and I have to say I wish they would have sold us off years ago. In the six months since new ownership took over we have seen so many improvements that my head is literally spinning. New ownership solved a problem-tenant issue that Trasglobe refused to address. New ownership will be changing my windows and patio doors. God, I hate Transglobe.
I like the rent increases they have recently given out in the town I live but yet the hot water is out at least twice a week, heat doesn’t always work, parking lot is nothing but a pile or rubble and your car gets f’d no matter how slow you creep through the lot.
Try telling transglobe tey will go besides the point and discredit the way u think they are bastards
If you somehow manage to bring this to Ottawa (ON.), I will GLADLY jump on the band wagon. I know at least 50 tenants who would also GLADLY sign any petition. Instead of wiping their butt with our money, they should invest it in providing better service!
I have been living in a Transglobe property for 3 years. They are HORRIBLE! They are worse than Minto.
Their elevators were running on an expired licence for over two months. We haven’t been able to do our laundry for over a month (and still can’t). They blamed the coinamatic company but when we insist that it is not their mistake, they finally admit, the mistakes are on their end.
The never return calls.
They often lose rent checks. Somehow, they never forget to raise their prices tho!
This video answers my concerns on whether buildings with a Transglobe sign should be avoided in regards to renting.
SAME HERE!! They often ‘loose’ rent cheques.. I was suprised to come home mid march to find a notice of unpaid rent under my door, having payed rent the 1st as usual directly into the hands of my super. I called and refused to pay any thing until they found or provided me with a receipt. I got a call the next day for them to tell me oops it was on their desk the whole time… I can’t wait to be out of here!!
i still live in transglobe it”s hell they treat you like scum it”s all right if they have your money other than that they don”t care about much if you find this before you move in don”t run far run fast just run you”ll thank your self we feel better now that are year lease is up we can move everything you see here is true i lived it can”t someone stop these slumloards and no mind caretakers? just a warning don”t move in at 180 brybeck kitchener or any on that street you will soon no hell to!!!!
thyssen is good at repairing the elevators and are quick to respond although they are probally replacing the “computers” in the elevator room hope your elevators are running better and not trying to split old people in half between the doors that box ripped also thats scary
thats a code violation this elevator should not be allowd to run with no sencor
That is actually horrifying. The more I see the more I am convinved that this property “management” is absent in the managing sense. I cannot believe that the elevators do that, to be honest I was half expecting the elevator to just move up or down with the door still not completely shut. VERY dangerous and scary.
My own building was trash from the moment we moved in, transferring from another TransGlobe building.
There were holes in the wall. The bathroom was unsanitary and dirty as all sin. Carpets dirty, linoleum dirty, with canola oil on the floor and counter (I thought it was urine). And I JUST got notice today, that they lost my money, and I owe them an additional $325. Also, our elevators are in poor shape as well.
transglobe are the worst! They never fix their elevators and their properties are disgusting it is absolutley disgraceful that the province allows a monoploy like this to continue to exist and abuse low income people!
we live in a Transglobe highrise that have the same elevator problems i have tried to bring this to thier att with no reply id like to point out the fact that this apt has a monthly income exceeding 120.000 theres never hot water the balconies are rusting off after 30 years and the rooftop they sold us on has never been acessable i only have 3 words for transglobe and they are KISS MY ASS were looking and hope to move soon and ill be makeing sure the next building isnt on the chopping block
Hi there – the elevator sensor issue was taken care of shortly after the video was posted, however there are still issue with inconsistency. Thiessen Elevator company is currently in our building doing elevator repairs (apparently they are replacing all three with new systems) which is set to be completed in May 2008. They have not even completed one elevator yet though, so I’m doubtful that the work will be finished in two-three months. Keep on this company with your complaints! Post videos!
nikkimaynikkimay do you know who installed it Otis or Dover etc ? you should call them up and get it fixed and new Computer controllers sensors put in etc
You know what, I think I just might do that!
Was your building like this before Transglobe took over ownership? Since posting this video, an elevator repair company has begun replacing the lifts in our building, and apparently this was something that was in the works for a while. Our elevators were bad before Transglobe bought the building, but seemed to get worse (due to a lack of maintenance) after they bought the property from Minto. I’m grateful that the problem is being fixed now – why don’t you post video of your building here?
Transglobe bought us out and is now trying to raise our rent. The water is never hot, or even on, the elevators get stuck and stop 3 feet from the floor, we have ants, we have leaky faucets, it’s always freaking cold and we have one superintendent taking care of two buildings and he never DOES anything! The halls are never cleaned and there is garbage in the front of the building. And no handicap ramps. Booooo Transglobe!
I worked in a building that was taken over by transglobe and within 2 months the maintenance of the building was extremely poor. They are a very cosmetic in that they will make the outside look great but the actual running of the building is very cheaply done. Best advice I can give is threaten them with lawsuits, record everything and call there gotransglobe number.
I live in Oakville in another Transglobe property. There is no way to get in contact with them and our “building representative” is never around. We also have broken down elevators that are scary and are constantly breaking down. Also, idiots keep pulling the fire alarm for fun and last night it took us a half hour to get in contact with the “building representative” to turn it off. 30th time this has happened in the 4 years we’ve been here. No cameras, no security and no one is in the office.

My sister was stuck in the elevator at Baycrest for an hour and a half. On January 17, 2008 we had our power out from 8am until 1:30am the next day! There was a man in a wheel chair that was alone in his apartment without a candle or flashlight and NO HEAT! I actually am starting a petition with the other tenants of the building. I am planning to start one big case against Transglobe at the Tribunal. Would anyone like to join me and a few other tenants?
my new blog will keep everyone posted.
Have written to the mayor and he’s given me a place to contact for it.
