When it is time for your windows to be cleaned, a large majority of the times people pick up phonebooks or go online to find a company.

And unfortunately, a person may just choose whoever they see first. Well I would like to offer some advice on how to choose a good window cleaning company. This is going to be advice coming from my years of experience as a San Diego Window cleaning company.

Now you may be thinking, what’s the big deal when hiring a window washing company.Well to begin, there is a huge amount of companies who just hire anybody to clean windows for them. They often do this not checking their background.Well I hope you realize, these same people will have access to your home. With that being the case, would you not want to ensure that the company you are dealing with is reputable. It could mean the difference between not just a good cleaning job, but it could also mean the difference in items being lost or stolen from your home.

So what can you do to screen out a good company?Well to start, you check to see if the employees are professional, clean, and uniformed. If they are not, this very well may be a sign that the company goes through employees every week without much regards to screening.

Next thing you want to do is to check to see if the company is bonded and insured. Accidents can happen, and if they do, you want to be protected as much as possible.

Third, are they using professional equipment. This does help you in seeing if the company is professional in their work and if it is quality work.

Fourth, check to see how long they have been in business. Like anything, longevity speaks volumes and shows you that you are working with a reputable company.

Finally, you will want to have them provide you past references of past clients.Nothing provides better validation or speaks louder on the quality of work that a company can do than previous customers. This lets you see how well they have done in the past.

There you have it. Some quick tips you can use to find the best window cleaning company around.

At first glance, window cleaning seems easy enough of a job to do.You can ask any young kid to clean your windows, for pay, and watch them jump at the chance. The challenge however, is after they do it once, they will be telling you that they will never do that again. Now the challenge when cleaning the windows is not the actual work involved, it’s how and when you do it, and what tools you are going to use. Take it from my years as a San Diego Window cleaning company, if you want someone to enjoy cleaning your windows, or if you want to do it yourself, keep some of these tips below in mind.

If you wash your windows when the sun is directly on them, you will soon realize that this makes ugly streaks that don’t seem to go away no matter how many times you clean them! It is frustrating, but knowing something as simple as when to wash them like when the sun passes by and is not shining on the window, or when it is so hot, can you save you a lot of time and frustration.

Some San Diego window washing tips that take the frustration and hassle out of window cleaning are:

The way you hold the squeegee matters!

When holding the squeegee, make sure you’re angling it in the direction of the water flow. If the water is flowing down towards your feet, pull the squeegee either sideways allowing the water being squeegeed to flow down to the part you haven’t hit yet. If you’re on a rooftop for example and the down angle is above your head, squeegee forward again so the water flows to the part not yet touched. If you go against the flow water will build up and flow out the sides of the squeegee causing streaks.

Wiping the blade is important!

Some people will be tempted to squeegee the entire window without even considering to wipe the blade until the end. This won’t work very well and can make ugly streaks just from the water left on the blade. Every time you go to get that (which is twice in the same spot essentially) you cause another streak. By wiping the blade after each stroke you avoid this problemand have the windows washed much faster without wasted steps that you have to go back on.

Overlap the streaks

After every stroke, make the next stroke overlap (about an inch into the dry area) and make your next stroke. If you are pointing the squeegee to make the water fall downward to the part of the window that is wet and you are drying the blade after every stroke, you won’t make
an additional streak that you have to go back over. Never try to squeegee right on the line, this could cause splash up into the dry area and is counter productive.

Use a lot of water

If you don’t use enough water you will have a hard time making perfect frictionless strokes with the squeegee. be liberal with your water and always when possible use sideways strokes where the water drips down towards the wet part of the glass.

So there you go. Some easy to apply San Diego window cleaning tips for all you do it your selfers.Follow these simple pieces of advice and you will be happy with how your windows turn out.

At first glance, window cleaning seems easy enough of a job to do.You can ask any young kid to clean your windows, for pay, and watch them jump at the chance. The problem however, is that they will only do this once before they come to tell you that they don’t ever want to do that again. The problem with window cleaning however is not in the actual work involved, it’s in how you do it, when you do it, and what tools you use.

It’s frustrating, but knowing a simple tip like washing them when the sun passes away from the windows, or is not so hot, can save you from failure and frustration as well.

Some San Diego window washing tips that take the frustration and hassle out of window cleaning are:

The way you hold the squeegee matters!

Now when you are holding the squeegee, be sure that the angle is correct and it is in the directino of the water flow. If the water is running down to your feet, move the squeegee sideways causing the water being squeegeed to go down to the part you haven’t cleaned yet. If you find yourself on a rooftop for example and you find the down angle above your head, make sure to squeegee forward so you cause the water to flow to the part untouched. If you go against the flow water will build up and flow out the sides of the squeegee causing streaks.

Wiping the squeegee blade is very important!

Some people are going to try to clean the whole window without wiping the blade until the very end. This won’t work very well and can make ugly streaks just from the water left on the blade. Every time you try to get that streak (which in essence is two times in the same spot) you will make another streak.Wiping after each stroke the blade will avoid this problem completelyand have the windows washed much faster without wasted steps that you have to go back on.

Make the streaks overlap

After every stroke, make the next stroke overlap (about an inch into the dry area) and make your next stroke. If you’re pointing the squeegee so the water buildup falls downward towards the wet part of the window and you’re drying off the blade after each stroke, you will not create
an additional window streak that will need to be done over. Never squeegee right where the line is, this can make a splash into the dry area and is definitely counter productive.

Use a lot of water

If you don’t use plenty of water, you will cause yourself a hard time by making the strokes more dificult rather than smooth strokes with the squeegee. don’t be afraid to use a lot of water and when possible be sure to use sideway strokes where the water is flowing down towards the part of the glass that is wet.

So that’s it. Some easy to apply San Diego window cleaning tips for all you do it your selfers. Follow these steps and you will be pleased with how your windows turn out.

Spring is in the air, well okay, I guess it seems like it is always spring in San Diego. What can I say?

Being a San Diego window cleaning company sure has its perks. But don’t think that just because the weather is perfect that it is impossible to have dirty windows.

As a matter of fact, most of the time, us San Diegans think our windows don’t ever get dirty. Not so.

Let me clear one thing up, though, this article is not solely for Southern Californians. You can use these window cleaning tips no matter where you find your self on God’s green earth.

So ready? Let’s begin.

Can you guess what the main problem is when trying to clean windows? Those ugly streaks. We wake up one day feeling great, believing we can take on the world. So what do we want to take on? We want to take on our windows.

But let’s slow down for a second there my friend. Before you begin your attack on those dirty windows, and I’m not implying that you can’t. Let’s figure out what needs to be done first. You’ll see it won’t be that difficult.

Ready for the how to? Here goes lickity split.

Now right off the bat, the first thing you will want and need is the right tools for the job. This isn’t going to be a quick spray and wipedown of your family room glass table. No, this will be glass that has months of dirt piled on, from the weather all the way to insects and birds making it dirty.

So what will be the tools that will be needed for the job. Well it certainly won’t be windex and some paper towels. It won’t be much more complicated than that. The tools you will need is a squeegee and a spray bottle and then you can use the paper towels.

Put all these tools together, use them correctly and you day of cleaning windows will be a breeze.

Okay, so you have those 3 tools, now what? Well you are missing one last ingredient. You are going to need something for that spray bottle. And what you may ask is this secret ingredient? It comes in 2 parts. Ready? The secret sauce is a teaspoon of dish washing liquid and 2 gallons of water. Simple, but that is all you will need. You put all these things together and you will have streak free windows in no time.

Oh snap, one final ingredient I haven’t mentioned yet. And it is a biggie. The final ingredient is a lot of elbow grease.

Remember when you woke up all gung ho ready to take on the windows? Well after the third window or so, that little bit of elbow grease might just not be enough.

Well when you do, don’t forget where you got the advice. Your wonderful local San Diego window washing company, who won’t mind adding some elbow grease.

Till next time, happy cleaning.
