The transmission is one of the most expensive parts of a car to be repaired. A damaged transmission could cost as much as several thousand dollars.What’s sad about it is that it could have been avoided.Of course, it won’t be possible to avoid all car problems.  But if you follow these 3 tips you can increase your chances of avoiding it.

So first thing you want to do is pay attention to your car. This tip is given free but you should make sure that you do it regularly.  What I mean by paying attention is seeing if it is leaking fluids.Are the gears rough when you shift it?  Those are signs of problems. All my clients of my Escondido auto repair always get a list of what they should look out for between maintenance.

And the second advice is also free.  It is also something you have total control of.That is, taking care of your cars by driving well.A lot of people drive very hard and they don’t care what happens to their cars.They don’t realize that they need to take care of it to avoid costly problems.  A lot of the times the cars that need to be repaired in my Oceanside auto repair shop you can tell which cars weren’t taken care of.Usually, it also means that they would spend more on repairs.So do the right thing and take care and regularly maintain your car.

One of the most costly repairs you can have for your car is the transmission.It is a huge part of your automobile.Being sure to take care of it is really important.  By taking care of your car you can save yourself a lot of money.  Since you can’t fix it yourself here are some ways to check it at home.By doing the checking first at home, you can verify if you really need to bring it in.

First off since I own a Vista auto repair shop I know how expensive transmission repairs can be.So I make sure that my clients do a couple of checks prior to bringing it in.This way you can verify if it has a need to be taken in.First thing they can do is check the fluid.The fluid needs to be real clear.If the fluid is dark or black that is an indication of a problem and they have to bring their car in.

A second thing they can look at is how the gear shifts.You can perform this by just shifting the gears from park to drive.  Or you can move it from park to reverse.  What you are looking for is for the gears to shift smoothly.What you hope doesn’t happen is a jerking motion.If you find that your car is jerking that is an indication of problems with your transmission.  In my La Costa transmission repair shop this is one of the big signs of transmission problems.Quite a few cars that are brought in have this problem.

This will prevent you from headaches to due expensive repairs.Your engine will also be running smoothly when you do this.Making your car undergo regular tune-ups will save a lot of money on repairs. Not passing the smog test is one the problems caused by not properly tuning up your car.  I have seen older cars in my smog test San Diego shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test.This will lead to other problems.
